Special Operations

Special Operations or "SPECOPS" refers to those situations that endanger life and require specially trained personnel and equipment to mitigate. In the Fairfield FD, “SPECOPS” is divided by discipline into two distinctive sections: (a) Hazardous Materials Team and (b) Advanced Technical Rescue.

Members assigned to these specialty units are required to complete extensive training and must constantly refresh their skills due to the changing hazards and new technologies.

Hazardous Materials [HAZMAT] Team

Responsible for planning, training and organizing hazardous materials responses by Fairfield fire Department, maintaining equipment and ensuring OSHA compliance and refresher training for both operational and technician personnel.

Advanced Technical Rescue
