Information for Senior Citizens

Senior Citizen Smoke Detector Battery Program

Please let us know if you would like the Fire Department to come out and change your smoke detector batteries for you. Senior citizens can be added to our list and will be contacted to schedule a time that is convenient for you. Please call 203-254-4720 or email Senior SDS program to be added to the list. Please include your name, address, phone number and number of smoke detectors present.

File of Life and Free Blood Pressure Screenings

The Fairfield Fire Department recommends keeping updated medical information readily available in the event of an emergency for fire, police and ambulance personnel. The File of Life is a refrigerator magnet with an attached red plastic pocket labeled “FILE OF LIFE”.  In the plastic pocket is a tri-fold card on which you can record your vital emergency information. Fill in the information on the card.  Remember, the information will help first responders to better assist you in an emergency. Please stop by a local fire station to pick up your kit and let us take your blood pressure.

ICE - In Case of Emergency

Who should we contact if you are in an accident, fall down stairs or have a medical condition that prevents you from speaking. Firefighters are trained to look at your phone for an emergency contact called "ICE." Save your primary emergency contacts phone numbers under this name and we will be able to notify them if you are injured and can't call yourself

Town of Fairfield Senior Services

There are many forms of assistance available to our seniors living in the community. Please visit the Town's Senior and Social Services website for a comprehensive list.
