The Fairfield Regional
Fire School is Dedicated and Named after former Fairfield Fire Captain and
Training Officer Joseph Elias. Captain Joe was a model fire officer and
instructor. Most senior members of the department still speak of what they
learned from him. Captain Joe's teaching style is still talked about and envied.
Captain Joe
started with the Fairfield Fire Department in 1950. He was the first
Training Officer of the Fairfield Fire Department serving in that
capacity from 1966 until 1980 when he "retired"
But who really
retires? Captain Joe was so dedicated to the department that he returned
in the early 1990's to help the department train a class of 13 new
firefighters to become pump operators.
